Do moles cause skin cancer?

i have moles on the right side my neck

Do moles cause skin cancer?
Not necessarily. I had one about an inch below my right eye since birth that began to change shape. If that happens, it's possible there's something wrong. If you suspect there's a problem, don't hesitate to visit your doctor.

Best to you.
Reply:No, exposure to sun is the major cause of skin cancer. Skin cancer can look like a mole but when evaluated by a dermatologist many criteria (color, shape, size, etc.) are used to determine if it might be cancerous. If so they will remove it (excisional biopsy) and submit for microscopic evaluation (histopathology). If it comes back positive further treatment may be needed. Malignant melanoma is the most common skin cancer that looks like a mole, it can be deadly so not something to wait and see, see a doctor. There are other skin cancers (sqaumous cell carcinoma, SCCa) that may or may not initially resemble a mole. All are related to sun exposure, so cover yourself. Tanning beds are not known to be safe alternatives. Pale is in!!
